Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, Banks County Primary School will introduce Georgia’s new English Language Arts (ELA) standards in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. These updated standards, adopted in 2023, are designed to give our youngest learners a strong foundation in reading, writing, and communication. Students will focus on key early literacy skills, including phonics, fluency, handwriting, and understanding how sounds and letters work together. They will also begin building vocabulary and practicing grammar in meaningful ways.
These changes will help our BCPS students develop into stronger readers and writers, build confidence in their communication skills, and prepare them for long-term success in school and beyond. We look forward to partnering with families as we support every child’s literacy journey.
