Mrs. Jenna Lewis Named Classified Employee of the Year at Banks County Primary School

Banks County Primary School proudly announces that Jenna Lewis has been named the Classified Employee of the Year.

Jenna, the friendly and ever-helpful receptionist at BCPS, is now in her third year with the school.

A typical day for Jenna is a whirlwind of activity. Jenna plays a vital role in ensuring the front office runs smoothly, from greeting students and parents with a smile to managing phone calls, paperwork, and school logistics. Whether helping students find their way, supporting teachers, or coordinating with parents, Jenna brings warmth and efficiency to everything she does.

When asked what inspires her, Jenna shares that her husband, Josh, works hard at supporting their family. Jenna is often known for her sense of humor and the friendliness she brings to the school.

Jenna is also incredibly passionate about the sense of community at Banks County Primary and within the school system. "In our small, rural school, we truly feel like family," she says. "We truly come together in times of trouble or concern, supporting one another and working collaboratively to make a positive impact on our schools and community."

Jenna attributes much of her strength and warmth to her mother, Beth Jones, whose humor and kindness still serve as an inspiration and legacy to many people. "Her presence in my life has made it infinitely richer, and I am endlessly grateful for the joy and warmth she brought to each day."

Jenna and her husband of 11 years are proud parents to twin boys, Graham and Beckham, who bring endless joy and mischief to their lives. The family is also enriched by the memory of their angel baby, Kinlee, and their playful puppy, Mimi. Jenna enjoys spending time with her family, making beach trips, and participating in her church community.

Banks County Primary School is truly blessed to have Jenna as a part of our faculty and staff. We are so proud of her! Congratulations, Jenna!

Banks County Primary School Names Katie Davis as Teacher of the Year 2024-2025

Banks County Primary School proudly announces Mrs. Katie Davis as the Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025.

Katie has been part of Banks County Primary School for 11 years, serving as a teacher and her current role as a Behavior Interventionist.

Mrs. Davis’s passion for supporting students is rooted in her love for children and her drive to help them succeed. She works closely with students facing behavioral challenges, creating meaningful and impactful relationships. “I have always enjoyed helping children, but this new role has allowed me to learn new ways to help. Creating relationships with my students has been the most rewarding thing.”

Her daily work begins with morning check-ins, offering students a fresh start and a plan for success. Throughout the day, Mrs. Davis teaches behavior strategies and coping skills in individual and small-group settings, ensuring students have the tools to navigate their challenges. Afternoon check-outs provide an opportunity to reflect on the day’s successes and areas for growth, reinforcing a supportive and positive environment.

“I never cease to be amazed by how much these little hearts and minds try to balance. My mother always said that little pictures have big ears, which is true. Many of the students we serve know a great deal about the struggles in their families. It carries over. In our program, we try to help our students see that they can leave all those things at home. We remind them that—at school, all they have to worry about is school. It isn't always easy for them to let go, so we teach them skills to manage those worries.”

Katie Davis has found her home in Banks County Schools, professionally and personally. “Banks County Primary and the system as a whole have felt like home from the moment we arrived. I was very happy to raise my children here. I love how Banks County feels like the small town where I grew up".

Her gratitude extends to the teachers and colleagues who have shaped her journey, particularly her former first-grade teams. “There was a lot of laughing! One of my favorite teachers taught me a lesson I use today. He told me to make two columns when life gets tangled: things I can change right now and things I cannot. I have had to make many lists over the years, but that skill keeps me focused and helps me move forward.”

Mrs. Davis advises new educators: “Don't stop but find a way to balance. Kids today need our love and lessons more than ever. They need teachers to be interested and talk to them. This is a very emotional job, so take time to fill your spirit when you aren't at school.”

Outside the classroom, Katie enjoys traveling with her family, hiking, and spending time with Wheezy, her beloved Labrador retriever. She and her husband, Stan, are proud parents to Pepper, a film student at the University of West Georgia, and Annie, a BCHS sophomore excelling in academics and athletics.

Mrs. Davis’s dedication to her students, colleagues, and community makes her deserving of this honor. We are so lucky to have such an inspiring educator at Banks County Primary School. Congratulations, Katie Davis, on being named Teacher of the Year!
